United States: A very low percentage of Americans agree strongly with the notion that a fertilized egg should be accorded equal rights with a pregnant woman.

However, a considerable portion affirms that it depicts their opinions to some extent, as presented by a recent survey by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

More about the news

The new survey emerges as concerns about reproductive health access develop with other effects of the ruling by the Supreme Court to remove federal abortion rights.

The poll conducted identified that a clear majority of the people in America do not support a federal abortion ban, especially since a growing number enable women to seek abortions for whatever reason they desire, as ABC News reported.

Opinion of Proponent of abortions

But today’s opponents of abortion are pressuring for broader laws overarching extending rights and protection to embryos and fetuses, the consequences of which could affect so many fields, from reproductive medicine to assisted pregnancy.

As concerns more subtle questions regarding certain matters such as IVF or in vitro fertilization – which may be affected by the restricting climate in some states an issue although they were not considered as a part of ‘abortion’ in the past – there is common approval of the need for reproductive health care.

However, the poll also presents some confusion because Americans find themselves in situations that could not exist before the decision that overturned the Roe v. Wade case, as ABC News reported.

However, the poll also shows some uncertainty, as Americans are faced with situations that would not have arisen before Roe v. Wade was overturned.

What has the poll suggested?

Landing at large, around 6 in 10 US adults were supportive of the protection of access to IVF, which is a method of fertility treatment where the sperm is combined with the egg outside the human body in a lab to form the embryo.

The method is less developed when it comes to prohibiting the destruction of embryos produced through IVF, as only 4 in 10 adults took a stand on the issue by giving a neutral answer.
